AUREOLUS COINS

Aureolus assumed the title of Augustus during the feeble rule of Gallienus. Aureolus was proclaimed Emperor by the legions of Illyria in 267, and made himself master of Northern Italy, but he was defeated and slain in battle in 268, by Claudius II, the successor of Gallienus.
